Job & task scams
The “easy online tasks” job is a scam
Like products, watch videos, earn commission — and it really pays on day one. Then the deposits start. Here's the full script, so you can recognise which stage you're at and stop the losses now.
In one right now? Three rules
- Stop depositing — immediately. No payment unlocks your money. Not the reputation score, not the tax, not “one last task set”. Every further dirham is a new loss, not a recovery.
- The balance is not real. The dashboard number and the “negative balance” you supposedly owe are both part of the script. You owe nothing. Do not borrow money to “finish the tasks”.
- Call your bank today, then report. If you paid by card or transfer, a same-day recall attempt is the only realistic recovery path. Then file at Dubai Police eCrime or Abu Dhabi Police Aman (800 2626) with screenshots of the platform, chats, and payments.
How the script plays out
Every stage below is engineered in advance — including the parts that feel like your own bad luck. The amounts are from a real July 2026 case reported by a UAE resident who lost about AED 7,500 to a platform impersonating a legitimate communications company on a lookalike domain.
They pay YOU first
A WhatsApp or Telegram "Hi" offers a part-time job — liking Amazon products, watching YouTube videos, rating apps. Day one you earn AED 30–50, paid for real. Some platforms even let you withdraw once. That payout is bait, not salary.
Deposits unlock "better" tasks
Soon a task set needs you to invest AED 200. A bonus appears, your balance grows, and the next tier — a "Signature Package", VIP or combo set — promises 5× profits for a bigger deposit (AED 1,000+).
The rigged event flips your balance negative
Mid-set, a "Treasure Box", lucky key, or combo task suddenly puts your account thousands into the negative. Support blames you — wrong key, rule violation — and the only way to "recover" what you already paid is to deposit more. This is the stage where victims borrow money.
The withdrawal wall
Your dashboard shows a big balance — AED 10,000+ — but withdrawing needs a fee: a "reputation score" top-up, a tax, an unlock charge. Pay it and another fee appears. No payment ever releases the money, because the balance was never real.
Fake winners keep you in
You're added to a Telegram group where members post withdrawal screenshots and profit photos. They're shills, or other victims being used as bait.
The rules that never have exceptions
- A legitimate employer never asks you to deposit money to earn money — or to unlock your own wages.
- A work account whose balance can go negative — and must be topped up “to continue” — is a scam mechanic, not a debt.
- If you have to pay to withdraw your own money, the money is already gone.
- Real companies don't recruit through unsolicited WhatsApp/Telegram messages, and they don't run payroll through a mobile-web “wallet” on a lookalike domain.
One more wave to expect: after the loss, “recovery agents” may contact you promising to get the money back for a fee. That is the same scam wearing a new mask — only your bank and the police can pursue recovery.
